Surgery Assistant
Julia hails from the outskirts of Washington D.C., but she has moved around frequently during her childhood. Her most cherished memory of a place she has lived is Okinawa, an island off the coast of Japan. Julia thrived in the new cultural environment and eagerly soaked up all she could learn about the local traditions, cuisine, and entertainment.
Growing up with four older siblings who were dedicated employees at a neighborhood animal clinic, Julia felt inspired to join them as soon as she turned 16. It was during this time that her adoration and commitment to caring for animals blossomed. When the COVID-19 crisis hit, Julia stepped up to take on more responsibilities at the clinic, supporting her coworkers who could not come to work due to health concerns. Julia found joy in witnessing the diverse roles within the facility, from the compassionate front desk staff to the dedicated medical team and diligent kennel workers.
After graduating from high school, Julia pursued her passion for animals by starting on a pre-veterinary track and obtaining a bachelor's degree in animal and veterinary science from Clemson University in South Carolina in May 2024. Opting to take a gap year to gain more experience and knowledge in veterinary medicine, Julia dedicates her time not only to applying to veterinary schools but also to enriching her expertise in the field.
Outside of her work at the veterinary hospital, Julia enjoys spending time outdoors and experiencing new restaurants, movies, concerts and ball games. She also loves spending quality time with her beloved dog, Cricket. Julia volunteered to raise Cricket for a nonprofit, service animal training program called Canine Companions. She became a permanent member of the family after being released from the training program earlier this year. Together, they enjoy going on scenic hikes and indulging in comedy TV shows and movies.
