Anesthesia & Analgesia
Katie K. Zatroch, DVM, DACVAA is a board-certified veterinary anesthesiologist and Head of Anesthesiology & Analgesia at Philadelphia Animal Specialty & Emergency.
Originally from the Cleveland, Ohio area, Dr. Zatroch received both her undergraduate and veterinary degrees at The Ohio State University. Following graduation, Dr. Zatroch completed a small animal rotating internship at the CARE Centre in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. She continued to work there as an emergency veterinarian until ultimately deciding to pursue and complete a residency program in anesthesia and pain management at Cornell University.
Dr. Zatroch enjoys partnering with both her colleagues and pet parents to ensure the anesthesia experience is as calm and painless as possible for her patients. By providing special attention to patient safety and individualized anesthetic plans, Dr. Zatroch takes pride in helping high-risk anesthetic patients get the medical care they need. She is also particularly interested in advanced locoregional anesthesia, and has completed additional training in ultrasound-guided locoregional techniques. She welcomes pet parents wanting more information about what anesthesia might mean for their pet, and is always happy to talk through questions they may have.
Following residency, Dr. Zatroch has made a home in the Philadelphia area with her partner Scott and their three naughty cats--Dennis, Bill, and Lil' Shrimp. She enjoys staying active, playing board games, trying new recipes and being a plant lady.
